Rigorous, expert peer review

Blind, independent peer review undertaken by a minimum of three expert peer reviewers.  Reviewers are drawn from the journal’s editorial board, its volunteer peer reviewer pool, and where necessary also from Pubmed.  More information on peer review.

Submission to first editorial decision including peer review in 4 weeks average

Peer review takes place and the editorial decision-maker’s first editorial decision is made within an average of four weeks.  Longer or shorter periods may occasionally be encountered.  More information on editorial decision-making.

Rapid publication in 2-4 weeks after final acceptance

All papers accepted for publication are proof read by professional editors before being typeset.  Production is managed by our production staff to efficiently obtain a professional, high-quality article.

Simple author instructions and manuscript submission system

Our manuscript preparation guidelines and submission system is designed to be simple to use.  More information about preparing and submitting your manuscript.

Paper promotion after publication through scholarly databases, social media, opted-in journal newsletters, and optional TrendMD inclusion

All published papers will be announced through the journal’s opted-in email alerts service and social media channels including Facebook and Twitter.  Journals are extensively indexed including premier databases such as Pubmed, Scopus and many EBSCO databases.  Refer to each journal’s home page to see a full list of external indexes.  Optionally authors may also promote their paper through TrendMD.

Article and journal-level usage data

Usage metrics are available for all published papers within about 72 hours of publication and include downloads by month and geographical region.  Usage data is also drawn from Pubmed Central where applicable.  Selected journals also offer journal metrics.  Please note that article-level usage metrics is currently in beta.  More information is available on each metrics webpage.

Unlimited revisions to typeset proofs without deadlines

There are no deadlines for authors to approve typeset proofs and unlimited rounds of revisions are permitted. 

High circulation, visibility and readership

Most of our journals are open access (all excluding the Clinical Medicine Reviews series of subscription-only journals) and are widely indexed.  Authors and readers can freely read, cite and share papers.
