Copyright in authors' works:

All authors' works published by Libertas Academica are published under the Creative Commons Attribution licence.

The effect of the Attribution licence is:

"This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered, in terms of what others can do with your works licensed under Attribution."

Disclaimer:

Authors whose work appears in journals published by Libertas Academica agree when they submit their paper and when they consent to the typeset version being published that they have clearance to reproduce all copyrighted material appearing in this manuscript, and they absolve Libertas Academica from all liability arising from any failure to get clearance or oversights in having done so by them and their co-authors if any.

Libertas Academica accepts no liability for authors' copyright violations.

Protection of personal information

We aim to treat your personal information as we would expect our own to be treated. Protecting your privacy is an important issue for internet users. This statement explains our policy for protecting users’ personal information.

What personal information does Libertas Academica ask users to supply, and why?

Registration on My LA is optional and voluntary for readers, and allows us to offer personalised services to readers such as email notifications of new articles. Viewing articles does not require any personal information to be submitted from users.

Submitting a paper for peer review requires registration on My LA and the submission process entails providing information such as a contact email address. Other information provided does not go beyond what is required to be provided as standard article metadata.

While users are entitled to decline to provide information requested, this may prevent us from providing services requested.

Other information collected

We track patterns of usage on our site to identify the most popular articles and journals. This information is anonymous.

Policy on sharing email addresses with third parties

We only share user information with third parties where the user has expressly consented to this occurring.

Policy on emailing My LA members

We offer mailing lists which users may voluntarily subscribe to, and from time to time emails will be sent to subscribers. Users may opt out from receiving these at any time by modifying their subscription through My LA.

Does Libertas Academica share demographic information with advertisers?

At present we do not do this. If we were to do so in future, any information allowing advertisers to target users personally would be subject to the user’s prior express consent.

This policy and authors of articles published by Libertas Academica

Publishing a paper involves the distribution of names and some professional details of the authors to the readers of the author’s paper. We will not contact authors for any reason not related to their paper, and collection of author’s details from our website by third parties for commercial reasons is strictly prohibited.

Our legal responsibilities

We reserve the right to disclose user’s personal information if required to do so by law, or in the good faith or belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal processes or to protect the rights, property or safety of Libertas Academica, its employees or users.
