Manuscript Editing

Manuscript editing is available for all authors: you don't need to have submitted—or even be planning to submit—your manuscript to a Libertas journal.  Manuscript editing should be used if:

English is your second language and your manuscript needs editing before peer review

Poor English can have a significant negative impact on the outcome of peer review.  Many of these problems can only be resolved by professional editors: a simple spelling and grammar check by your word processing application will not be sufficient.

Your peer review report requires English copy editing

Occasionally peer review reports may require English copy editing prior to resubmission of a your revised manuscript.  Please note that you are not required to use our manuscript editing service: any professional service that provides a summary of changes is acceptable.  

Who performs manuscript editing?

Our manuscript editing is performed by a highly experienced and professional editing bureau based in Canada.  Editing is done by experienced subject area experts.  We work with this bureau on a continual basis and have consistently found them to be amongst the very best in their field.

What does manuscript editing involve?

Editing involves correction to publishing standard of:

• English language grammar, style, and spelling throughout your entire manuscript

• Reference formatting according to AMA style (other styles available on request)

• Other manuscript presentation points such as provision and correct formatting of article metadata

For manuscripts presented in MS Word format track changes will be used to identify all changes.  For other file formats a separate list of changes will be provided.

How long does it take?

Generally no longer than five working days following fee payment.  In unusual circumstances up to eight working days may be required.
